A Prayer Of Trust In God’s Faithful Promises

“Father, help us to meditate upon Your promises so that our faith is increased and our hope is renewed. When obstacles cloud our view that discourage or sway our trust in You, knowing Your thoroughly tested promises helps us to look beyond the natural and trust You for the supernatural.”

A Prayer For Being Used By God

Father, we are called to obedience to Your Word which compels us to make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.  As we see evil crouching in at every level, it’s all the more reason why we must be vigilant to live pure lives so that the light of Jesus shines through our words and our actions in this darkened world.  We want to pay close attention to ourselves and persevere in the truths presented in Scripture so that we will ensure salvation both for ourselves and those whom we have opportunity to influence.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

A Prayer For The Persecuted Church

Father, help us to be moved by the plight of those who are prepared to suffer and even lay down their lives for the sake of Christ. We remember them in our prayers and remember them as warriors of the faith, who for the joy set before them endured the suffering, shame and agony of their tormentors. As they endured the humiliation they also overcame by the blood of the Lamb. Many of them have received the crown of life in heaven that is rewarded to those martyred for their faith.  On Coronation Day when we all gather in heaven we look forward to enjoying earnest fellowship with these tried and true saints of our faith who did not give up meeting together to worship You.  Keep us faithful when tested by fire, we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

A Prayer Of Esteem For The Elderly

Father, we read of those in the Bible from generations long ago who lived upright and godly lives. They were discerning and wise, devoted in their duties such as Anna and Simeon who served in the temple. So many serve as examples of those who walked in Your ways from their youth and remained faithful through their golden years.  Some of their choices brought about multiple blessings and other choices brought forth great sacrifice, persecution, or even death. We also read of those who were proud and foolish, thinking only of themselves, such as Samson, Ananias and Sapphira or Demetrius the Silversmith. They also serve as warnings to us. We highly esteem those older than us, many whose self-worth is based on productivity and accomplishment, which makes them feel no longer useful in their senior years. Yet their example of wisdom, maturity, and perseverance, especially as they experience the pains and limitations that come with aging, serve as a tremendous example for those of us who will soon follow in their steps. It’s in the name of Jesus that we pray for our senior friends. Amen.

A Prayer For Christ’s Preeminence

Jesus, anything good or praiseworthy in my life is simply a reflection of Your abiding presence in me.  Help me to grow in Your grace and knowledge so that I place more emphasis on Your kingdom than on my achievements.   The only true success in my ministry is when I point others to You and deflect anything that would center upon me.  I want to walk in humility today as I pray, “Jesus, You must become greater in my life, but I must become less.”   I ask You to be at the center of my thoughts, my attitudes, and in my conversations today. In the name of Jesus I pray.  Amen.

A Prayer For Joy At Work

Father, we find pleasure and fulfillment in our work when we work at it heartily, as for You, primarily.  We thank You for giving us the wherewithal to provide an income for our family where our financial needs are met.  Certainly each workplace has its challenges, but as we look to You for strength, endurance and wisdom to deal with those challenges we find joy, thanksgiving, and fulfillment in our work.  May others see heaven sent joy flow from our lives as we spread mutual respect and a strong work ethic in the workplace.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

A Prayer For Godly Leadership

Father, we pray for our election here in the U.S. Many votes have already been cast and the majority will be cast tomorrow. It is our earnest desire that those who most reflect godly values along with good leadership qualities will be elected to office. There is much we can do to make a difference in the spiritual landscape of our country, and yet we live in a world where the prince of darkness rules. Help us to remain vigilant as we live in this troubled world and choose not to partake of the world’s hollow and deceptive philosophies, that depends on the basic principles and practices of this world rather than on Christ. It is in the powerful name of Jesus that we pray. Amen.

A Prayer For A Trusting Heart

Father, help me not to be anxious about perplexing matters before me, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I want to present my requests to You so that Your peace which surpasses human understanding will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.  Keep my eyes on Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life because that is the way to You, our Heavenly Father.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

A Prayer For Spiritual Focus On Christ

Father, the accolades, merits, relationships and physical treasures I’ve accumulated in this life are but rubbish when compared to the all surpassing gift of knowing You, receiving Your forgiveness, and experiencing Your redemptive love. Because I am risen with Christ I want to place my affections on things above rather than things on this earth where I am so easily distracted from  that which really matters and draws me closer to Your throne. To know You, Father, is to know unfathomable peace and joy beyond measure. I thank You through Christ Jesus my Lord. Amen.

A Prayer For Those Dealing With Hopelessness

Heavenly Father, when those aboard the ship in Acts 27 were looking at the gloomy forecast that appeared for many days their hopes diminished day by day. So often that’s what leads us to defeat; we fear the raging storm and the damage it will do, instead of looking to the One who controls the wind and waves. We consider those suffering as a result of Hurricane Sandy, reminding us that You are a God of the impossible, bringing hope in the midst of devastation, restoration in the midst of loss. We pray that there will be Christian believers who will bring the life-saving message of Jesus Christ to the hearts of the suffering and bring a message of hope, not based on what they see, but in the hope we have through the Holy Spirit as we trust in You. Amen.
