A Prayer Proclaiming God’s Greatness

“Father, Your works surround us and add such depth and beauty to our daily experiences in life.  You not only tend to our daily needs but through Your great works You delight our senses by that which we see, touch, hear, and feel as we admire Your handiwork. Help us to pause in our busy schedules to listen to the rippling brook, smell the tree blossoms, observe the mountain grandeur and  recognize Your creative power in the plentiful ornamentals that we have the privilege of planting, growing and tending over the warm months each year. Your great works are observed in the Scriptures and admired in our daily lives.  How wonderfully extravagant is Your works that we enjoy each day, for it is truly the heavens declaring Your glory and the firmament showing Your handiwork. For them we are grateful. Amen.”

A Prayer For Spiritual Weeders

“Father, the pesty weeds in the garden are pervasive, persistent, and problematic to the gardener until pulled out by the root.  Weeds are like sin in our lives and in order for us to be productive and thriving in our Christian walk we must uproot the growing sins that seek to choke out the Word of God in our lives. Alert us to the weeds in their infancy stage lest they overtake the precious implanted truths of Your Holy Scripture and we begin to live for the worthless weed instead of the precious Bread of Life.  Keep us diligent, zealous, and hopeful as we nurture our daily lives with the spiritual tools of forgiveness, patience, forbearance, enduring love and so many other productive attitudes as written in the Scriptures.  In the name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.”

2 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.”

A Prayer For Guarding Against Deception

“Father, we are confronted with deception on many fronts every day, so much so, that we can be deceived without even realizing it. Would You help us to watch out and be on our guard so that we are not deceived by man’s words, no matter how convincing or how charming their personality, nor how cunning their craft. Help us not to fall for Satan’s deceptive tactics that have brought down believers throughout the church age. We seek You for strength and discipline and search the Scriptures for discernment and the true revelation of who Jesus, the Son of the Living God, is. It is in His name that we pray, Amen.”

A Prayer For Overcoming Disappointments

“Father, You grow and stretch our maturity through circumstances that often are not of our own choosing. It helps us to gain needed perspective and experience in situations that overall benefit us, perhaps in areas we otherwise neglect. Help us to be patient as we search Your Scriptures and prayerfully seek to understand Your plan as it unfolds in our lives. Align our desires with Your own as we submit our will to Yours. May we not be overcome by adversity but we ask You, Father, to use adversity as a tool by which You carve Your image deep into our hearts. We may make our plans but we realize that, as Your child, You will have the final say. Amen.”

A Prayer For The Lonely

“Father, thank You for the many Scriptures that reassure us we’re never alone, whether it’s during our mountain top experiences or in the valleys below.  You promise that Your Spirit will never leave us nor forsake us, but You will be with us always. We are encouraged and strengthened by Your promises and Your presence.  Amen.”

A Prayer For Moral Discernment

“Father, as we hate that which is evil and cling to that which is good we must be clear in our minds about good and evil. We don’t write our own playbook based upon popularity polls or by that which makes us “cool” or “staying up with the times” based on the trends of our society. We look to the ancient words of Scripture, honored by godly men and women, boys and girls throughout the centuries who believe in the inspiration of the Scriptures, who held to its teachings and lived by the standards as prescribed within the Word. May it always be our reference point in judging that which is evil and that which is good. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
