A Prayer For An Eternal Focus

Father, would You show us through Your Holy Spirit and the Holy Scriptures and by the examples of committed believers what it is to live for the eternal. It seems that we indulge with the world far too much and it prioritizes our time, finances, and interests. As we love You more, we love the things of the world less. We see them for what they really are – temporary, broken, and/or sin-ridden. As we fix our eyes on You the things of this world grow strangely dim. We want to spend more time with You which will direct our thoughts and affections toward heaven. We want to deposit our investments there so that our treasure chest is growing with rust-proof, moth-proof, and thief-proofed treasures that last for all eternity.  In the Name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

A Prayer For Staying On Bible Road

“Father, I am thankful for the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures that provides an objective and accurate guide for every season of my life. The Bible is a lamp unto my feet and a light for the path that lies before me.  It teaches, convicts, corrects, and trains me in the ways of godliness. Though many will choose other authorities to guide their lives, I choose Your Holy Book to equip me for the works You’ve called me to do in Your name. I rely on its inspired texts to sustain me in my lifetime commitment to walk in Your ways as I travel the Bible Road that leads to eternal life. Amen.”

A Prayer Of Thanks For The Bible

“Father, You make Your will known to us through the authority of the Holy Scriptures. And yet each day we are exposed to opinions and lifestyles that are a direct contrast to Your teaching through Scripture and the life of Jesus.  It helps us deal with such conflict when we remember that though we must be in the world we are not to partake of the world’s ways. We recall the temptations of Jesus over the 40 days He spent in the wilderness fasting and praying.  Matthew writes that it was Your Spirit that led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  Was that to show us that even Jesus could be tempted by the evil one?  Did Jesus go through this testing to show us how to resist the devil’s crafty lies by responding with Scripture?  Was it to show us that being prayed up helps us to resist the evil one?  Thank You for this inspiring and instructive Scripture passage that helps us in our own wilderness journeyings that are filled with baited traps along the way.  We want to be prayed up and read up so that we will not give the devil a foothold in our lives.  We want to be victorious through Christ Jesus our Lord in whose name we pray.  Amen.”
