What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?

And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.
[ Love the Lord Your God ] These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess
He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.
“[ The Right of the Firstborn ] If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons but the firstborn is the son of the wife he does not love.”
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.

“Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law. Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
