A Prayer For Godly Discernment
Father, You have given to some the spiritual gift of discernment, and for others it’s the years of reading the Scriptures, listening to godly teaching and walking in obedience to You that discernment has characterized our faith journey. We want to be observant, understanding, and discerning about our times, so that we are prepared to do battle with the enemy and show others the way to eternal life. Amen.

A Prayer For A Life Of Purpose
Father, we’re grateful for those throughout history who chose to be men and women of faith, whose hearts were fashioned in Your image, for those who served Your purpose in their generation. We also want to serve Your purpose in our generation. Help us to remain steadfast and strong as we press on in this race set before us. Thankfully, in this race, we’re not in competition to be the only prizewinner. Instead we take hold of the hands of those who run with us and invite those on the sidelines to join us. We want to cross the finish line together so that we will all receive the grand prize of life eternal with You. May we never give up!

A Prayer For Spiritual Fervency
Father, I consider the depth of one’s faith and how far-reaching it is when fleshed out in one’s life. Timothy’s sincere faith was due in great part to the influence of a godly grandmother and equally devoted mother. As we stay in communion with You through prayer and obedience to Your Holy Word we ask You to keep the flame burning within our hearts. It is not just compliance to Your Word, but also fervency in our spirit that will convince others of their need to walk in Your ways. In the name of Jesus we pray.

Father, as adults we tend to complicate matters and seek to understand that which is incomprehensible. We cannot fully grasp the Kingdom of God here on earth or that You would give Your only Son to die for us, and that by doing so, we can receive forgiveness of sins. These amazing truths are hard to grasp and often keep adults from receiving by faith all that You have for us. But Jesus gives us the example of children whose learning is very basic. They don’t yet know the why and wherefores of life at such an early age. But rather than Jesus instructing the children to first become like the disciples, as we would expect, He instructs the disciples to become like children. Father, help us to examine the characteristics of a child that bring You pleasure, that open our heart’s door for closer communion with You. In the name of Jesus we pray.
